Medical Laboratory Technician Location: San Leandro, CA Agency: Cynet Health Pay: Competitive weekly pay (inquire for details) Shift Information: 5 days x 8 hours Start Date: 5/18/2026 About the Position Job Title: Point of Care Lab Technician Profession: Technologist Specialty: Laboratory Duration: Not specified Shift: Monday - Friday Hours per Shift: 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM Experience: Minimum years of experience not specified License: Valid driver's license with a good driving record Certifications: State licensure as a Medical Laboratory Technician or Licensed Vocational Nurse Must-Have: Vaccination against COVID-19 or exemption documentation Description: The Point of Care Lab Technician performs waived laboratory tests in a remote or mobile setting under the supervision of the Laboratory Manager. This role involves receiving specimens from phlebotomists and couriers. The technician may operate a delivery van to bring the mobile lab to areas of high volume for STAT testing when applicable. It is essential to enter patient demographics and test orders into the laboratory information system. Quality control of each test must be checked prior to running and reporting patient results. The technician ensures QC is within appropriate limits and reports any problems to a supervisor or manager in real time. Laboratory testing may include Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Molecular, and Coagulation. Data entry of test results is a critical responsibility. Abnormal results must be confirmed prior to release, and rare and improbable test results should be brought to the attention of a supervisor or manager. The role includes blood collection, which consists of venipuncture and capillary specimens. Specimens must be processed, and requisitions logged as needed. Close monitoring of the STAT board is necessary to ensure that STAT turnaround time goals are consistently met. Assistance in maintaining adequate inventory of supplies is required, along with compliance with state requirements for documentation of lot numbers with quality control and specimen records. Troubleshooting client, instrument, and computer problems is part of the role. Maintenance on automated instrumentation may be necessary when needed. Recording quality control and maintaining QC records on all assays performed is essential. Other tasks and procedures that align with education, training, and abilities may be assigned. The technician is responsible for all clerical functions associated with specimen integrity, testing, identification, and reporting of department testing. All safety protocols outlined in the safety manual must be followed. The work environment may involve hazards associated with blood-borne pathogens, biological materials, hazardous substances, and radioactive material. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities. Laboratory staff should frequently stand, handle or feel, talk, and hear. Occasionally, the employee may be required to walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The technician may lift and/or move up to 15 pounds on occasion. Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. There should be no color visual deficiency.
