IGNITE PROGRAM TRAVEL NURSE After-School Program - Inspiring Growth Nurturing Innovation Teaching Enrichment Part-time 21.25 hours per week Monday through Friday from 2:15 p.m. 6:30 p.m. $35.00 per hour with RN License per contract Start date: August 24, 2026 School Year position This can be a shared positionOn-call for four (4) elementary schools during programming There will be an orientation prior to the start date___________________________________________________________________________________Definition: The District IGNITE Travel Nurse: RN will perform all relevant duties relating to the medical care of students and staff during the districts out-of-school program hours. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, direct patient care, health assessment and management, collaboration and communication, health education, documentation, emergency response and other out of school program support. Supervision: Works under the general supervision of the Director of Health Services in accordance with the Massachusetts General Laws, Department of Public Health Regulations, and the Board of Registration in Nursing. The travel out of school nurse will work collaboratively with other nursing staff and district staff. Essential Functions/Duties and Responsibilities: Provide appropriate medical care for ill or injured students and staff.Collect, report and record subjective and objective data for students and staff health issues in an accurate and timely manner. Assist in providing nursing/medical care to medically complex students per their IEPs/504s.Provide other nurses, necessary staff and caregivers with information about nursing interventions and student/staff responses to care. Provide emergency care in case of injury or sudden illness. Documents in the school health record using the health office web-based application as needed. Ensures documentation is done in a timely, accurate, clear and concise manner.Attend meetings as necessary. Performs other work-related activities as required or as the situation dictates. Confidentiality: The employee has access to confidential information on a large scale, across departments, which may include student information, financial information and records.Recommended Minimum Qualifications: CPR and First Aid Certification Massachusetts RN License is required.Must have reliable transportation as local travel is involved. Education and Experience: Graduate of an approved and registered nursing program.Three years' experience in school health or pediatric/adolescent health care is preferred. Experience with EMR such as SNAP Knowledge, Ability and Skill: Working knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of modern public and school health nursing. Knowledge of applicable state and local public and school health laws and regulations. Familiarity with community facilities and resources providing medical and related social services. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with children, school personnel, physicians, parents/caregivers, families, community agencies and the general public. Ability to maintain pertinent and confidential medical records and charts. Knowledgeable in vision/hearing, growth/development, immunization and the laws pertaining to child abuse. Experience with Microsoft Word, SNAP and other applicable computerized software.Physical, Motor, and Visual Skills: Physical Skills/RequirementsThe work involves sitting, standing, walking and stooping. May be required to lift objects such as files, boxes of papers, office supplies, and office equipment weighing up to 30 pounds.Light to moderate physical effort demanded in caring for students/staff. May need to transfer wheel-chair bound students and/or use hoyer lifts. May be required to perform toileting/diaper changing needs per their care plan. Ability to communicate verbally with students, families, parents, staff and the general public. May be required to stand and walk for extended periods of time. If Hired: Must have acceptable MA CORI and SAFIS Fingerprint Background Checks prior to start of employment.
