Registered Nurse (RN) | Emergency Room (ER) / Trauma Location: Wrangell, AK Agency: Cynet Health Pay: Competitive weekly pay (inquire for details) Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours Start Date: 6/1/2026 About the Position Job Title: Emergency Room Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Nurse Duration: Full Time Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: Guaranteed Hours not specified Experience: Minimum Years of Experience not specified License: Current full, unrestricted Registered Nursing license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS or must be obtained within 6 months of hire Must-Have: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (Bachelor's degree, Associate's degree, or Diploma in nursing) Clinical Competency required within 3 months of hire and every three years High Risk Competency required within 3 months of hire and every year Description: This role involves coordinating and performing nursing care procedures for patients of all ages. Professional knowledge and consideration of specific patient conditions and treatments are essential. The registered nurse must work independently and complete assignments. Guidelines include provider orders and healthcare policies and procedures. The nurse will support individuals and their families. Clinical decisions are made independently during the scheduled shift. There is complete accountability for all actions taken. Consultation with the appropriate manager or supervisor is required in difficult situations. The ability to react calmly and make sound nursing judgments in emergent situations is critical. Responsibilities include delegating and supervising support staff. Essential functions involve providing nursing activities and ensuring patient safety. Developing and maintaining good working rapport with other personnel is necessary. Participation in developing nursing objectives and standards is required. Implementing and coordinating nursing policies, procedures, and care plans is key. Interpreting policies for personnel, patients, visitors, and family members is part of the role. Ensuring patient rights are upheld is critical. Adhering to infection control procedures is mandatory. Creating a warm and positive environment is essential. Training department personnel and making recommendations regarding training is part of the job. Completing necessary administrative forms and reports is required. Evaluating and assisting care plans is part of the responsibilities. Confidentiality of patient information must be maintained. Evaluating emergencies and determining appropriate measures is crucial. Making independent decisions regarding nursing care is expected. Record-keeping on patient admissions, discharges, and transfers is necessary. Nurses notes should be descriptive and informative regarding care provided. Notification of physicians in case of incidents is required. Maintaining stock levels of medications and supplies is essential. Participation in staff meetings and training is expected. Giving and receiving nursing reports at shift changes is part of the role. Transcribing physician’s orders into documentation systems is necessary. Completing work requisitions for unsafe conditions is expected. Observing and reporting patient conditions and reactions to treatments is vital. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary. Physical Working Conditions: Intermittent movement throughout the workday is required. Coping with mental and emotional stress is necessary for this position. The nurse must possess adequate sight and hearing abilities. Independent functioning, flexibility, personal integrity, and effective collaboration with patients and staff are essential. Good general health and emotional stability are required. Interacting with ill, disabled, elderly, and emotionally upset patients is part of the job. Lifting patients and equipment may be necessary. Experience: Acute care, emergency department, and/or long-term care experience is preferred. Knowledge of nursing practices and healthcare regulations is required. Skills in supervising and collaborating with personnel are necessary. Ability to incorporate new methods and principles into nursing practices is essential. Demonstrating patience, tactfulness, and enthusiasm is important. Planning, organizing, and interpreting nursing service programs is required.
