Registered Nurse (RN) | Pediatric Med/Surg Location: Sitka, AK Agency: Cynet Health Pay: Competitive weekly pay (inquire for details) Shift Information: Days - 5 days x 8 hours Start Date: 6/1/2026 About the Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Med-surg Peds, Med-Surg Ortho, Med-surg Mother/Baby, Med-surg Adult Duration: Full Time Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 40 Experience: Minimum of 5 years as a Registered Nurse in acute care settings License: Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse licensure for the state of Alaska Certifications: Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support Must-Have: Nursing degree required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred Description: Provide clinical support while meeting the educational and informational needs of new employees, experienced staff, and students within the department. Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate formal and informal educational and professional development activities, including orientation, staff updates, and ongoing continuing education. Provide clinical support to nursing staff regarding complex patient care, medication administration, and treatment plans. Serve as a clinical practice resource and mentor to nursing staff, providing guidance in the development and enhancement of clinical skills. Function as a liaison between nursing staff and leadership, effectively communicating concerns and feedback. Analyze patient data to identify clinical practice gaps. Develop and implement interventions to address identified gaps in knowledge or skills. Utilize critical thinking skills in the clinical practice setting. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement evidence-based practice standards of care. Act as a resource and advocate for patients and families. Contribute to and promote the adoption of new processes, innovations, and ideas to improve service quality, efficiency, or safety. Facilitate implementation of new clinical practices, protocols, and equipment with relevant staff training. Promote ethical standards and organizational mission and vision. Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, reporting any concerns to leadership. Perform quality control audits and monitor and report concerns related to nursing issues, accuracy, quality of care, and regulatory standards. Complete all other duties as assigned. Knowledge of clinical practice standards and procedures is essential. Effectively manage acutely ill patients and pertinent medical equipment. Understand evidence-based practices and quality improvement initiatives. Safely administer medications following established procedures. Employ various teaching methods to optimize educational opportunities for healthcare professionals, patients, and families. Demonstrate skills in conducting comprehensive patient assessments. Assist in performing specialized procedures based on unit requirements. Provide patient education on health conditions, medications, and discharge instructions. Utilize effective communication strategies and interpersonal skills. Motivate others to achieve and exceed nursing clinical practice standards. Maintain calm and professionalism in high-stress situations. Proficiently use Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Demonstrate proficiency in electronic health records systems as applicable. Compose and check emails with attention to detail. Exhibit strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams. Be flexible to work varying schedules, including weekends and holidays as needed. Responsible for complying with safe work rules. Report all accidents and injuries immediately per policy. Cooperate in all accident and injury investigations per policy. Report defective equipment and unsafe conditions. Adhere to and promote infection control guidelines. Adhere to and promote compliance with regulatory standards. Work in an environment with regular exposure to infectious diseases and biohazards in an acute care hospital setting. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms for extended periods. The employee must be able to lift and/or move a minimum of 50 lbs independently. Employees must be able to reach above their heads and bend below the waist.
