Job Description & Requirements Specialty Occupational Therapist Discipline Therapy Start Date 05/26/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 40 hours per week Shift: 10 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview Shift: Days, 4x10hrs Hours: 40 hrs/wk Start Date: May 26, 2026 Length: 13 weeks Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is hiring a travel Occupational Therapist with at least 1 year of acute care experience for a 13-week inpatient assignment working 10-hour day shifts with weekend rotation requirements. Details Acute inpatient setting on an Occupational Therapy floor (Floor 2) of a hospital Covers all acute care adult populations except ICU; ICU coverage may be required for travelers with strong prior ICU experience Common diagnoses include neurological conditions (CVA, MS, Parkinson's, Guillain-Barré), general medical, orthopedic (total joints and fractures), cardiac (pacers), and oncology Caseload of approximately 8–10 patients per day with 2–3 therapists on shift 4, 10-hour shifts per week; 7:30am–6:00pm Weekend rotation required approximately 40% of weekend days, typically every other full weekend Charting performed in Epic No COTAs on unit; 2 Rehab Aides provide support Requirements Active OT state license required (license required if applicable) Minimum 1 year of acute care experience as a licensed therapist (acute rehab experience alone may not be sufficient) Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC) Ability to evaluate and treat adult acute care patients, provide discharge recommendations, and communicate safe mobility plans to an interdisciplinary team Driver's license required for consideration 2 professional references required for consideration: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible Additional Information First-time travelers are welcome to apply Former permanent employees of this facility must have been away for at least one year before applying for a travel assignment Orientation consists of at least 2 days of onboarding with an experienced staff OT preceptor; the first week should be planned as M–F, 5 eight-hour shifts to accommodate the onboarding schedule An OT Manager is present on each shift Travelers are rarely required to work holidays, though coverage may occasionally be needed Any color scrubs or business casual attire is acceptable Scheduling requests and blocked scheduling are not accepted; an 8-week schedule is used with requests considered but no self-scheduling No RTO requests will be accommodated American Traveler Job ID #P-705575.
