Occupational Therapist Location: Alpena, MI Agency: Cynet Health Pay: Competitive weekly pay (inquire for details) Shift Information: Days - 5 days x 8 hours Start Date: 5/18/2026 About the Position Job Title: Occupational Therapist I Profession: Occupational Therapist Specialty: Outpatient Duration: Full-time Shift: Monday - Friday Hours per Shift: 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM, with weekend rotation (1 per month) Experience: More than 1 year of experience preferred, but will consider new graduates. Outpatient experience is highly preferred. License: NBCOT certification in Occupational Therapy Certifications: BLS - Basic Life Support within 1 month of hire. Must-Have: Bachelor's Degree Effective verbal and written communication skills Ability to work independently with problem-solving and organizational skills Willingness to complete annual OSHA training Description: This position involves evaluating patients' functions through formal and informal testing measures. Develop a specific treatment regime based on assessment data and patient tolerance. Submit a written treatment regime as part of the plan of treatment authorized and coordinated with the physician. Update the plan of care as needed to reflect changes in patient status. Devise a treatment schedule that is frequency and duration-specific to be discussed with the patient, family, or caregiver. Educate patients and families about pathology, alternatives, prognosis, and rationale for treatment. Provide supervision for Assistants and Home Health Aides as per regulatory standards. Recommend adaptive/supportive equipment based on assessment and assist in securing it for patients. Document patient responses to treatment and changes in condition according to documentation policies. Complete daily documentation necessary for procedures and compliance with regulatory agencies. Demonstrate competence to facilitate or restore optimal functioning specific to patient care. Educate patients and caregivers in home education programs utilizing effective teaching methods. Maintain effective communication with all internal and external customers to maximize patient care quality. Promote education and development among staff and other health care providers using relevant methods. Assist with program development and participate in team conferences and interdisciplinary meetings. Promote occupational therapy services within the health system by participating in and providing community education. Function as case manager for assigned cases. Demonstrate commitment to organizational values through customer service, quality service, and teamwork. Maintain confidentiality of patient and organizational information as per policies and procedures. Other duties may be assigned as necessary. Physical and Mental Requirements: The role may involve exposure to stressful situations, including public contact and trauma. Ability to wear personal protective equipment and move freely within the facility. Overall vision and hearing are necessary, with or without assistive devices. The role requires frequent sitting, standing, and walking, with postural changes as needed. There may be exposure to potentially infectious materials, and compliance with bloodborne pathogen protocols is necessary. Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain regular attendance is essential. Physical demands include occasional lifting or carrying of 21-50 lbs, frequent handling of up to 20 lbs, and constant movement of lighter weights.
