Occupational Therapist Location: West Branch, MI Agency: Cynet Health Pay: Competitive weekly pay (inquire for details) Shift Information: Days - 5 days x 8 hours Start Date: 5/18/2026 About the Position Job Title: Occupational Therapist Profession: Occupational Therapist Specialty: Outpatient Rehabilitation Duration: Full-Time Shift: 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM, Sunday 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM, Monday through Thursday 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM or Tuesday through Friday 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM Hours per Shift: 8.5 hours Experience: More than 1 year preferred, new graduates may be considered License: Licensed Occupational Therapist Certifications: BLS - Basic Life Support, NBCOT Certification in Occupational Therapy, OTR Must-Have: Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy Description: This position delegates responsibility to the Occupational Therapist Assistant and Aides. Activities of this position are patient-focused and utilize assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation in accordance with occupational therapy standards, physician orders, and governing policies and procedures. The core area treated includes acute and outpatient settings. Evaluates patient function by performing formal and informal testing measures to determine skeletal, neurological, respiratory, cardiovascular status, developmental, social, and cognitive functions. Develops a goal-specific treatment regime based on assessment data and the patient’s tolerance to carry out the treatment plan as prescribed. Submits a written treatment regime to be included as part of the plan of treatment authorized by and coordinated with the physician. Updates the plan of care as needed to reflect changes in patient status. Co-signs verbal orders received by the occupational therapist assistant as necessary. Devises a schedule of treatment, which is frequency and duration-specific to be discussed with patient, family, and caregiver, and coordinated with clinical support staff. Educates patients, families, and/or caregivers regarding pathology or condition, patient alternatives, prognosis, and rationale for treatment through forms of rest, exercise, modalities, and other indicated interventions. Provides supervision for Occupational Therapist Assistants, Home Health Aides, and students per affiliate and regulatory standards. Recommends adaptive or supportive equipment based on assessment; contacts appropriate representative and/or supplier to place orders and assists in securing equipment for patients. Documents the patient, family, or caregiver response to treatment and changes in patient condition per documentation policies and standards and in compliance with regulatory agencies. Completes daily documentation necessary for procedures per policy and in compliance with regulatory agencies. Provides treatment intervention and demonstrates competence to facilitate or restore optimal functioning specific to patient care area. Educates patient, family, or caregiver in home education programs using relevant and effective teaching methods. Demonstrates effective oral and written communication with all internal and external customers to maximize quality of patient care, including coordination with interdisciplinary team members. Promotes education and development among staff, students, and other healthcare providers using relevant and effective teaching methods. Promotes process improvement and assists with program development. Participates in team conferences and interdisciplinary meetings as appropriate. Functions as a case manager for assigned cases. Demonstrates commitment to mission as evidenced by customer service, quality of service, and teamwork. Maintains confidentiality of patient and affiliate information in accordance with policies and procedures. Exposes to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as trauma, grief, and death. Must be able to move freely about the facility and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined. Overall vision and hearing are necessary. Frequently required to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling, or crouching. Some exposure to bloodborne pathogens and other potentially infectious materials. Must follow bloodborne pathogen and TB testing requirements as necessary. Ability to handle multiple tasks independently, with regular and predictable attendance. Overall dexterity is required, including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering, and feeling. Ability to demonstrate and teach selected treatment routines to appropriate professional and non-professional individuals. AOTA membership preferred.
