Description: This position primarily involves outpatient physical therapy. The role may occasionally require floating to acute care settings. The treatment plans must be authorized and coordinated with the physician. Updating the plan of care as needed to reflect changes in patient status is required. Developing a specific schedule of treatment and discussing it with patients and caregivers is necessary. Education of patients, families, and caregivers regarding conditions and treatment rationales is key. Supervision of Physical Therapist Assistants and aides is part of the role. Recommendations for adaptive and supportive equipment based on assessments are needed. Documentation of patient responses to treatment and changes in conditions must comply with policies. Daily documentation for billing procedures must be completed accurately. Providing treatment interventions to facilitate or restore optimal functioning is expected. Education of patients and caregivers in home education programs is required. Effective communication with internal and external customers to maximize quality patient care is critical.
