It includes delegating responsibilities to Physical Therapist Assistants and Aides. Activities are patient-focused and utilize assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation in accordance with physical therapy standards. The role involves evaluating patients’ functions through formal and informal testing measures. It requires developing goal-specific treatment regimes based on assessment data and patient tolerance. Written treatment regimes must be submitted as part of the authorized plan of treatment. Plans of care should be updated to reflect changes in patient status. The Physical Therapist will also devise treatment schedules specific to frequency and duration, discussing these with patients, families, and caregivers. Education for patients, families, and caregivers regarding conditions and treatment rationale is a key responsibility. Supervision for Physical Therapist Assistants, Physical Therapy Aides, Home Health Aides, and students according to regulatory standards is required. Recommendations for adaptive and supportive equipment based on assessments should be made. The role involves documentation of patient responses to treatment and changes in condition. Daily documentation necessary for compliance with policies and regulations is required. Providing treatment interventions and demonstrating competence is expected. Educating patients and families in home education programs using effective teaching methods is part of the job. Effective communication with internal and external customers is essential for maximizing the quality of care. Promoting education and development among staff and other health care providers is important. Engagement in program development and participation in team conferences is expected. The Physical Therapist will promote physical therapy within the service area and provide community education. Functioning as a case manager for assigned cases is part of the role. Demonstrating commitment through quality of service, teamwork, and customer service is required. Maintaining confidentiality of patient information is essential. Other tasks may be assigned as needed. This position requires competency in Microsoft Windows. Interpersonal skills for effective verbal and written communication are needed. The ability to work independently while demonstrating problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills is important. Ability to work where exposure to communicable diseases may occur is necessary. Proper use of personal protective equipment is required.
