Role Description Summary This is a full-time, in-office, role for a Qualified Settlement Fund (QSF) Manager. We are hiring for our Atlanta or Houston office only. The responsibilities of the QSF Manager include establishing new trust accounts, managing trust accounts, overseeing fund disbursements, ensuring compliance with IRS guidelines, and providing investment management strategies tailored to client needs. The QSF Manager will work closely with attorneys, claimants, and other stakeholders, providing expert financial guidance. Ensuring accurate reporting, addressing inquiries, and identifying opportunities to improve internal processes/efficiencies are key components of this role. Key Responsibilities Fund Administration Complete and transmit Statement of Work and Services Agreement to plaintiff counsel. Establish and administer QSFs in compliance with Treasury Regulation 1.468B, including drafting and filing required court orders and governing documents. Manage fund accounts, investments, and cash flows from settlement receipt through final distribution. Maintain detailed records of all fund activity, transactions, and client communications. Tax & Regulatory Compliance Assist accounting department to prepare all required tax returns, including IRS Form 1120-SF (U.S. Income Tax Return for Settlement Funds). Obtain and maintain the fund's Employer Identification Number (EIN). Issue Forms W-9, 1099, and other required tax reporting documents to attorneys, claimants and the IRS. Monitor legislative and regulatory changes affecting QSF administration and implement necessary procedural updates. Claims Administration Develop and implement claims review and verification processes in coordination with settlement counsel. Evaluate and process claimant submissions, resolve disputes, and apply allocation formulas or court-approved distribution plans. Communicate with claimants, attorneys, and lien holders throughout the distribution process. Financial Management Ensure fund assets are invested prudently in accordance with applicable law, court orders, and the fund's investment policy. Prepare periodic trust statements and reports for the court, counsel, and stakeholders. Stakeholder & Court Relations Prepare and file required accountings, status reports, and final distribution reports with the court. Coordinate with plaintiff and defense counsel, structured settlement consultants, and bankers. Respond to court inquiries. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Legal Studies; J.D., CPA, or CFP preferred. 5+ years of experience in trust administration, settlement administration, banking, or legal finance. Working knowledge of IRC 468B and settlement Regulation 1.468B governing QSFs. Transaction oriented professional. Strong attention to details with a focus on compliance and adherence to regulatory guidelines Demonstrated experience with tax compliance, fiduciary duties, and financial reporting. Proficiency Microsoft Office Suite. Preferred Qualifications Experience with mass tort, class action, or large-scale individual settlement administration. Familiarity with Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) compliance and lien resolution. CSSC (Certified Structured Settlement Consultant) or CTFA (Certified Trust and Fiduciary Advisor) designation. Prior experience working with courts, escrow accounts, or structured settlement arrangements. Experience with banking software and tools.
