Your r sum must include the month and year for start and end dates for each listed employer.Applicants who require accommodation for the interview process should contact Human Resources at 512-465-4043 when contacted to schedule an interview.State Classification Title:Administrative Assistant III This position is required to work onsite at TxDMV headquarters located in Austin, TX.GENERAL DESCRIPTION Our mission at the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) is to serve, protect and advance the citizens and industries in the state with quality motor vehicle related services.We are a dynamic state agency dedicated to customer service, consumer protection and the success of motor vehicle-related industries.Performs routine administrative and technical support for the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles.Duties include daily delivery of routine mail, as well as special and freight deliveries and pick-ups in the Austin and surrounding areas using state vehicles (including a box truck); lifting of heavy objects such as supplies and equipment; receiving, sorting, processing, and delivering high volumes of incoming and outgoing mail and freight; performing warehouse tasks; and handling administrative, research and customer service activities.Work requires interaction with internal and external customers, vendors and the public.Works under direct supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.ESSENTIAL DUTIES Collect, receive, sort, and deliver incoming, outgoing, and interdepartmental mail--including flats, boxes, and freight--accurately and promptly per procedures.Perform courier and mail activities on rotating routes using various state vehicles (automobile, van, truck, box truck, golf cart).Safely load, unload and stack materials by hand or with equipment (hand jacks, dollies, pallets, forklifts, state vehicles, box trucks); ensure passengers use safety restraints, cargo is secured, and vehicle capacity limits are not exceeded.Receive and process all classes of mail and parcels--including insured, certified, express, registered, international, and private carrier shipments ensuring proper postage and accurate routing information.Track mail and packages in tracking systems; log and process contracted carrier packages.Operate and maintain postage equipment (i.e., postage meter machines); initiates and finalizes postage meter processes; and ensures postage meters and mailroom supplies remain stocked and organized at all times.Assist with mailroom maintenance, plate and metal recycling deliveries and warehouse tasks as needed.Provide administrative support:answer calls, respond to inquiries, support internal customers, verify and correct misdirected mail, process, log and record data into internal systems while maintaining files and records, and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.Perform additional mailroom or warehouse duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES Knowledge of:General mail distribution center practices and procedures Mail and freight handling and U.S.postal regulations Applicable laws, rules, and records maintenance procedures Research techniques Record keeping and management Skills in:Use of Microsoft 365 Copilot (Outlook, Word, Excel) and other related software applications Operating postage machines, scales, inserters, and related equipment Performing manual labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs.Following TxDMV safety requirements Ability to:Communicate effectively, orally and in writing Work collaboratively in a team environment PHYSICAL/WORKING CONDITIONS Required to work on-site Monday-Friday, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week at Austin Headquarters.Required to perform manual labor including lifting supplies and materials up to 50 lbs.and standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time.Required to operate State vehicles (automobiles, vans, trucks, box trucks, golf carts, etc.)
