Job Description
Job Summary: Demonstrate complete knowledge of all US procedures, equipment, positioning and scanning. Efficiently perform all US techniques and exams to include but not limited to abdominal, retroperitoneal, obstetric and gynecological, breast and minor surgical exams. Verify correct images and worksheets are in place and available for interpretation in PACS system. Properly track patients in computer system to ensure accurate billing. Properly instruct and position patients for exams and acquire acceptable diagnostic images for interpretation. Recognize the need for the control/assessment of pain and falls for patients and help prevent or reduce patient pain levels and falls when possible. Report occurrences of medical/healthcare errors and action taken to improve patient safety both in response to occurrences and to proactive findings as outlined in Patient Safety Plan. Assist physician with procedures as required including intraoperative procedures. Label and date specimen as directed by hospital protocol. Maintain a flexible schedule. Work additional shifts/hours during high census, adverse weather, and employee absences/vacancies as requested. Perform all other duties as assigned or requested. Transport patients to DGI and properly communicate hand-off to nursing staff. Demonstrate and encourage team behavior and exceptional patient/guest experiences. Uphold and promote patient safety and quality. Education: Graduate of an approved school of ultrasonography or otherwise on-the-job training and be registered ARRT. On-the-job training under the supervision of a qualified technologist. Organizational and communication skills required. Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience as a registered RT or graduated from an approved school of ultrasound technology. Ultrasound experience with extensive knowledge of ultrasound examinations and skills to operate ultrasound equipment. Additional Skills/Abilities: Must possess interpersonal skills sufficient to interact with patients, patients’ families, visitors, salesmen, physicians and the public.
