Underground Fiber Optic / HDD Crew Member — Traveling Position

About Viking Drilling LLC: Viking Drilling LLC is a growing underground utility subcontractor specializing in horizontal directional drilling (HDD) and fiber optic conduit installation. We work with established telecommunications prime contractors on fiber infrastructure projects across the Midwest. We are building a professional traveling crew and are looking for motivated hardworking individuals who want consistent long term work with a company that takes care of its people. What We Offer: $22.00 -$28.00/hour W2 ( based on experience $51.00/day tax free per diem Fully covered lodging - hotel or Airbnb depending on job length $350 flat rate travel stipend per vehicle each way $150 mobilization advance on day one Consistent project based work orders in the Midwest Natural scheduled breaks between projects — you will always know your schedule in advance W2 employment, no 1099 surprises Opportunity to grow with a company that is expanding rapidly Responsibilities: Assist with horizontal directional drilling (HDD) boring operations Install fiber optic conduit and assist with fiber cable installation Excavate and install hand holes and vaults per project specifications Perform hand digging and potholing to identify underground utilities Follow all 811 utility locate requirements and safety protocols Maintain a clean organized and safe job site at all times Operate support equipment and tools as directed by foreman Communicate daily production and progress to site foreman Follow all OSHA safety standards and company safety policies Complete daily documentation and reporting as required Requirements: Must be authorized to work in the United States Underground utility construction experience required - HDD or fiber optic installation experience strongly preferred Valid driver's license required Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening Ability to perform physical outdoor construction work in varying weather conditions Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly Must be willing and able to travel for work- this is a traveling position Strong work ethic and reliability- punctuality and attendance are critical on project based work Ability to work effectively as part of a team Ability to follow direction and communicate clearly with foreman and management Preferred Qualifications — Not Required: Fiber optic conduit installation experience Experience reading construction blueprints or plans DOT physical certification Bilingual English and Spanish - a plus but not required Experience with utility locating equipment Prior traveling construction experience Equal Opportunity Employer: Viking Drilling LLC is an equal opportunity employer.
