Job Description
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring raw materials, components, and services required for industrial gear manufacturing operations. This role ensures cost-effective purchasing, strong supplier performance, and alignment with production schedules, quality standards, and inventory objectives. Qualifications Education Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field MBA or professional certification (e.g., CPSM, CPM) preferred Experience 5–10+ years of purchasing or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment Experience in heavy industry, machining, or manufacturing strongly preferred Demonstrated success in supplier negotiation and cost reduction Key Skills Strong negotiation and analytical capabilities Knowledge of industrial materials and processes (metals, heat treatment, machining) Experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Epicor) Understanding of lean manufacturing and inventory control principles Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills
