About the Role Deans at Masters Academy International are full-time mentors whose responsibility is the social-emotional well-being and academic success of their student-athletes. Working closely with faculty and acting as a point of contact for parents, Deans ensure that students are fully supported and appropriately challenged as they navigate the unique demands of balancing elite athletics with rigorous academics. In the Upper Grades, Deans also provide comprehensive college and career counseling, helping student-athletes navigate the college search and application process with confidence and clarity, particularly as they consider opportunities to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level. As an Upper Grades Dean, you will serve as the primary advocate and mentor for an assigned group of student-athletes during their pivotal high school years. You'll guide students in shaping their narratives as both scholars and athletes, making strategic academic and career choices, and building compelling profiles for college—all while supporting their social-emotional development and partnering closely with families throughout the journey. What You Will Do Student Support & Mentorship ● Serve as primary mentor and advocate for an assigned caseload of approximately 100 upper-grade student-athletes ● Host Dean’s meetings with your assigned UG students to build community, address shared challenges, and support peer connection ● Monitor and support students' academic progress and social-emotional development through regular one-on-one and small group meetings ● Implement and maintain Personal Learning Plans (PLPs) for advisees, partnering with families to set strengths-focused, personalized goals that account for both athletic and academic commitments ● Utilize Collaborative Problem Solving approaches to identify lagging skills and develop targeted support plans ● Collaborate with teachers on Presentations of Learning (POLs) that empower student voice and reflection ● Support students in navigating the demands of balancing elite athletic training with academic excellence during the high-stakes college preparation years ● Work closely with interdisciplinary teachers, coaching staff, Student Support Team (SST) personnel, and other faculty to coordinate comprehensive student support College and Career Counseling ● Guide student-athletes through the college search, selection, and application process with individualized support that considers both academic fit and athletic opportunities ● Conduct individual and group college counseling sessions that build student confidence, strategic thinking, and self-advocacy skills ● Support students in course selection decisions aligned with their college, career, and athletic aspirations, ensuring they understand how their choices impact future opportunities ● Help students shape their narrative early and strategically utilize MAI programs and resources to build compelling portfolios and profiles that showcase both their academic and athletic achievements ● Provide a comprehensive program and support throughout all stages of the college application process, including essay development, recommendation coordination, application strategy, and decision-making ● Build and maintain relationships with college admissions representatives and coaches to deepen their understanding of MAI and our student-athletes ● Coordinate college visits, information sessions, and application workshops that expand student horizons and demystify the college search process ● Provide guidance on the athletic recruitment pro
