Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a Utility Arborist (Work Planner) to support vegetation management operations for the Puerto Rico electric utility provider. This position plays a critical role in ensuring safe and reliable power delivery through proper tree assessment, planning, and coordination. Duties Inspect utility rights-of-way and identify vegetation that may impact electrical infrastructure. Plan and prioritize vegetation management work in compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Identify tree species and assess growth patterns, health, and risk. Utilize maps, GIS tools, and other technology platforms to document and plan work. Communicate effectively with internal teams, contractors, and the public. Work independently in outdoor environments across varying terrain and weather conditions. Ensure accurate data collection and reporting with high attention to detail. Skills Strong knowledge of tree identification and vegetation management practices Ability to interpret maps, GIS systems, and field data Proficiency with mobile devices, tablets, and work management systems Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers, crews, and stakeholders Strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to analyze problems and make sound decisions in the field High level of attention to detail and accuracy in reporting Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Adaptability in a fast-paced and changing environment Commitment to safety practices and compliance standards Bilingual communication skills (Spanish/English) Qualifications Must be 18 years of age or older. Valid driver's license is required. Ability to read maps and identify tree species. Ability to work independently outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent problem-solving, multitasking abilities, and attention to detail. Spanish bilingual (required). Ability to adapt to change in a dynamic work environment. Intermediate knowledge of technology and systems. ISA Certified, preferred.
