Job Summary: The Utility Driver & Operator will be responsible for transporting required equipment/supplies from one location to another. Their job duties include loading their vehicles, abiding by traffic laws, and ensuring safe unloading and delivery at their destination. Utility Driver & Operators must have experience with the transportation of large and medium-sized items and must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment. They are also responsible for heavy equipment operations from time to time Duties/Responsibilities: Drive and operate Utility trucks to and from Jobsites to deliver equipment or materials. Load and unload cargo. Pick up goods and materials, verify loads for accuracy, and deliver them as instructed. Record cargo deliveries Follow instructions; locate and read location and road maps. Pre-inspect trucks and trailers, to include all paperwork required prior to regular operations. Responsible for basic vehicle maintenance; comply with all safe work practices, policies, and processes at all times. Refuel and clean vehicles. Clean, Lubricate, and perform regular safety checks on Vehicles. Complete and verify paperwork for accuracy. Ensure all equipment is maintained and used in accordance with company health and safety regulations. Ensure equipment is properly positioned before turning it on and off, or loading and unloading it Train new field crew members in the safe operation of equipment Identify faults and report issues to their supervisor to ensure repairs are scheduled Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations. Required Skills and Abilities: Excellent Knowledge of traffic laws/ DOT regulations/ driving expertise/ best practices Pallet jack operation experience required. Forklift operation experience preferred Able to pass drug and Alcohol tests Clean driving record No DUI/DWI convictions in the past seven years Listening and verbal communication skills Dependability Ability to operate larger truck designs (Dump trucks, End dumps and Crain Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills. Ability to follow orders, especially under pressure. Ability to work to strict deadlines. Ability to operate and maintain equipment of all types and identify mechanical issues to mechanics A positive outlook and a willingness to learn Spanish Speaker, highly desired Common sense Education and experience: High school diploma CDL – Class A DOT Medical Certificate At least 2 years of experience driving heavy equipment. Basic ability to operate machinery for loading, unloading & transportation purposes Physical requirements: The position requires the employee to stand, walk, bend, manipulate objects, reach outward and reach above the head and shoulders, climb, descend, squat, kneel, bend, and occasionally lift/push/pull/drag on flat ground or steep slopes up to 80 pounds. The employee must have excellent endurance and work endurance. Working conditions range from very cold to high temperatures, strong winds, flying dust, hazards, and slippery conditions, and workers are frequently exposed to loud noises from heavy machinery.
