Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Utility Survey Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be instrumental in conducting precise utility location surveys, collecting critical data, and supporting land surveying projects to ensure accurate mapping and infrastructure development. Your expertise will help facilitate construction, civil engineering, and land management projects by providing reliable survey data and technical support. Duties Perform utility locating using advanced equipment such as 3D scanners, GPS devices, and hand tools to identify underground utilities and infrastructure. Collect, analyze, and document survey data with precision, ensuring all measurements adhere to project specifications and safety standards. Utilize CAD software including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, MicroStation, and Carlson to create detailed schematics, drawings, and models of surveyed sites. Conduct land surveying activities using GIS (Geographic Information Systems), ArcGIS, GPS technology, and other geospatial tools to support project planning and design. Assist in the interpretation of schematics, construction plans, and technical drawings to verify utility locations and project feasibility. Support data analysis efforts by organizing survey results into clear reports for engineers and project managers. Engage in physical tasks such as heavy lifting when transporting equipment or materials on-site while maintaining safety protocols at all times. Qualifications Strong knowledge of trigonometry, geometry, algebra, and math principles essential for precise measurements and calculations. Experience with utility locating techniques using specialized tools like 3D scanners, GPS units, and hand tools. Proficiency in CAD software including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, MicroStation, as well as GIS platforms like ArcGIS. Familiarity with land surveying practices and schematics interpretation within civil engineering or construction environments. Ability to analyze data accurately and produce detailed reports supporting project objectives. Knowledge of construction processes combined with excellent drafting skills for creating accurate schematics. Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and work outdoors in various weather conditions while adhering to safety standards. Strong problem-solving skills with an eye for detail; excellent communication skills for collaborating with team members and clients.
