Job SummaryJoin our team as a Valley Transit Travel Trainer, where you will play a vital role in empowering individuals to confidently navigate public transportation.This dynamic position involves providing personalized travel training, fostering independence, and enhancing community mobility for diverse populations.As a Travel Trainer, you will serve as a knowledgeable guide, helping riders understand transit routes, schedules, fare options, and safety procedures.You will be the liason between the riders and our operation! This position ensures high-quality, accessible, and responsive customer service and supports riders in learning how to safely and independently use public transportation services.The role combines front-line rider support, staff coordination, community outreach, and documentation in compliance with Federal Transit Administration (FTA).Your enthusiasm and expertise will inspire confidence and promote accessible transportation solutions for all.Responsibilities Conduct one-on-one and group training sessions to educate riders on using transit services effectively and safely Develop customized travel plans that meet individual needs, including route planning and fare management Demonstrate how to access transit stops, use ticketing machines, and navigate transit systems confidently Assist riders in understanding safety protocols and emergency procedures during their journeys Collaborate with community organizations, social service agencies, and stakeholders to identify training opportunities and outreach efforts Maintain detailed records of training sessions, rider progress, and feedback to improve service delivery Stay informed about transit system updates, route changes, and new technologies to provide accurate guidance Ensure customer service practices align with ADA, Title VI, and agency policies Accompany trainees on practice trips to build confidence and independent travel skills.Manage daily customer service operations, including phone, email, and in-person inquiries.Coordinate with social service agencies, tribal organizations, senior centers, schools, and community partners.Conduct outreach presentations and develop informational materials promoting transit services and travel training programs.Serve as a liaison between riders, customer service staff, and transit operations.Maintain customer service policies, procedures, and service standards.Supervise and support customer service and dispatch staff, as applicable.Handle escalated customer concerns, complaints, and service issues in a professional and timely manner.Track and analyze customer feedback, complaints, and service trends to recommend improvements.Adapt training methods to meet individual mobility, cognitive, sensory, or language needs.Educate riders on safety procedures, winter travel considerations, and emergency protocols.Education & Experience High school diploma or GED required; associate's or bachelor's degree in Human Services, Public Administration, Communications, or related field preferred.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of public transportation systems and ADA accessibility requirements (or ability to learn).Strong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills.Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities.Proficiency with computers, customer service tracking, and basic reporting tools.Familiarity with local geography and community resources.Ability to work safely in varying weather and field conditions.Working Conditions:Combination of office, field, and on-vehicle work.Regular interaction with the public, including vulnerable populations.Exposure to outdoor conditions such as snow, ice, and cold weather.May require flexible scheduling, including evenings or weekends.Experience in customer service, training, public transit, or human services preferred.Supervisory or lead experience strongly desired.Join us in making transportation accessible and enjoyable for everyone!
