Position Summary Del Norte Animal Hospital is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant (In-Room) to join our full-time team. As a key member of our medical staff, this position supports veterinarians during patient appointments and plays an essential role in delivering high-quality medical care and exceptional client service. Primary Responsibilities Obtain accurate patient histories and document findings in the electronic medical record (EMR) Safely restrain and position patients for examinations, diagnostics, and treatments Create treatment plans at the direction of the veterinarian and review them with clients Provide clear client education and effectively communicate veterinarian instructions Assist veterinarians and technicians with diagnostics, treatments, and emergency care as needed Process patient blood work and assist with other laboratory tasks Feed, groom, weigh, and care for animals staying in the hospital Clean and sanitize cages, kennels, and exam rooms to maintain a safe and comfortable environment Sterilize equipment and ensure exam rooms are properly stocked and set up Perform routine hospital maintenance tasks including laundry, sweeping, mopping, and trash removal Ensure every client feels supported and every patient receives compassionate, attentive care Qualifications & Skills Minimum of 1 year of veterinary hospital or animal handling experience preferred (canine and feline) Ability to safely lift pets up to 50 pounds and walk dogs up to 130 pounds Strong communication skills with a passion for client education and teamwork Excellent attention to detail and comfort working within electronic medical records Ability to multitask, remain calm under pressure, and adapt to a fast-paced environment Commitment to providing exceptional care to both patients and clients Schedule & Work Environment Full-time position Schedule consists of 4 shifts per week, 10 hours per shift Must be available to work at least one weekend day In-person work within a busy veterinary hospital setting Benefits We value our team members and are proud to offer: Paid Time Off (PTO) Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) with company matching Employee discounts, including: 50% off boarding at our sister hospital 40% off hospital services 30% off food, medications, and other inventory Flexible scheduling Uniform allowance Ongoing training and opportunities for professional growth Why Join Del Norte Animal Hospital?
