Vice President of Engineering About the Company Popular ecommerce platform Industry Retail Type Privately Held About the Role The Company is in search of a Vice President of Engineering to take on a senior leadership role and be responsible for the technical strategy, architecture, and execution across its various platforms. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership in areas such as the ecommerce platform, AWS infrastructure, enterprise systems, and third-party integrations. Key responsibilities include defining and executing a long-term technology roadmap, leading platform modernization and AWS optimization initiatives, and owning engineering OKRs, capacity planning, and budget management. The role also involves establishing and enforcing engineering standards, driving the maturity and optimization of AWS infrastructure, and leading the adoption of AI-assisted development tools. Applicants must have a minimum of 8 years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership position, and a strong hands-on background in AWS. The role requires a proven track record in delivering complex technical programs, experience in AI-augmented engineering environments, and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent. Preferred qualifications include experience with Ruby on Rails in an ecommerce context, Agile/Scrum methodologies, and a background in payment systems or B2B ecommerce. The ideal candidate will also have experience in platform modernization and legacy migration.
