Job Description
The Vice President of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) is a senior finance leader responsible for advancing CII’s long-term financial health and strategic sustainability. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and serving on CII’s senior leadership team, the VP leads enterprise-wide budgeting, forecasting, scenario modeling, and financial performance strategy aligned to CII’s Strategic Plan and North Star outcomes. This role strengthens financial discipline across the organization by integrating multi-year planning, funding risk analysis, capital allocation, and performance reporting into a cohesive financial planning system. The VP ensures financial insights inform executive and Board decision-making and partners closely with accounting to align planning, reporting, and compliance requirements. This role strengthens financial discipline across the organization by integrating multi-year planning, funding risk analysis, capital allocation, and performance reporting into a cohesive financial planning system. The VP ensures financial insights inform executive and Board decision-making and partners closely with accounting to align planning, reporting, and compliance requirements. Financial Planning, Forecasting & Analytics Strategy Lead and continuously strengthen CII’s enterprise-wide budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes. Own the annual operating and capital budget cycle, including timeline design, cross-functional coordination, and executive alignment. Develop rolling forecasts and multi-year financial models that inform strategic decision-making and long-term sustainability. Establish enterprise forecasting standards, dashboards, and performance metrics that support executive decision-making. Lead Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) initiatives within FP&A, strengthening systems, automation, data accuracy, and planning discipline. Strengthen financial literacy and planning capability across departments to build enterprise financial discipline. Revenue & Funding Analytics Model funding risk scenarios related to government and philanthropic shifts and inform executive strategy regarding diversification, investment pacing, and business model evolution. Provide enterprise-level revenue forecasting and contract-level funding analysis. Ensure alignment between FP&A projections, revenue cycle, accounting, and program operations. Strengthen cash flow forecasting and revenue sustainability visibility. Data Governance, Reporting & Funder Compliance Align financial forecasts, multi-year planning, and capital allocation to CII’s North Star Dashboard metrics and three-year targets. Partner with Accounting and Compliance to align FP&A forecasts and financial plans with regulatory, audit, and funder requirements (e.g., Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200), LA County contract rules, State of California funding requirements, and private grant obligations). Partner with Accounting and cross-functional leaders (e.g., HR, Programs, and Contracts) to ensure alignment between FP&A forecasts, planning assumptions, and official financial reporting. Partner with the CFO and Audit Committee to provide forward-looking financial insights that strengthen governance and oversight. Budget Governance, Scenario Planning & Strategic Finance Translate organizational strategy into multi-year financial plans, investment models, and scenario analyses that balance growth, risk, and sustainability. Evaluate ROI on enterprise system and infrastructure investments, ensuring capital and operating expenditures advance strategic priorities and measurable outcomes. Ensure financial planning and resource allocation support the successful execution of One CII, including centralized intake and cross-program coordination.
