Job Description
Job Description The Victim Witness Advocate Coordinator must be mentally and physically capable of performing a variety of specialized duties in order to effectively and efficiently maintain the operation of the Solicitor’s Office Victim Witness Program. Essential Functions: Provides crime-to-crime assistance to victims of serious and violent crimes. Provides courtroom accompaniment, employer intervention, resource referral, etc. Prepares and provides orientation of the judicial system to victims and/or witnesses of serious and violent crimes; assists prosecutors in victim/witness preparation for court. Coordinates court proceedings, hearing and conferences. Composes, compiles, and prepares a variety of reports including official documents, activity logs, and victim-witness forms. Operates a variety of equipment such as a typewriter, computer, printer, Dictaphone, copier, fax machine, audiovisual equipment calculator, telephone, vehicle, etc. Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the immediate supervisor, co-worker and other department staff members, attorneys, victims and their families, Governor’s Office, Clerk of Court office personnel, Probation Pardon and Parole personnel, S.C. Department of Corrections personnel and the general public. Non-Essential Functions: Performs various routine clerical functions, including but not limited to typing, copying, filing, faxing and distributing information, answering telephones, preparing mail, etc. Performs all other related duties as required. Qualifications: Education and Work Experience Requires a Bachelor’s degree in business, sociology, criminal justice or other relevant field supplemented by three to five years of general experience in the judicial or law enforcement system, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, carry, move and lift 50 lb. objects regularly. Correctable vision sufficient to read monitors, labels, and drive safely.
