Job Description
The Visitor Experience Associate is responsible for ensuring that visitors to Ford House have a world-class experience.This position provides a friendly greeting and orientation, answers frequently asked questions, promotes a wide range of amenities and programs, and ensures that all visitors adhere to estate guidelines.This face-paced role provides service across the estate at multiple locations including the admission desk, gate entry, grounds, historic buildings, reception, and retail shop.Position plays a key role within the Visitor Experience Department, working collaboratively with the Visitor Experience Manager, Visitor Experience Operations Manager, and Visitor Experience Leads, under the supervision of the Director of Visitor Experience.Responsibilities Be an ambassador and promote Ford House's mission and values during each visitor interaction.Model the organization's visitor experience standards when engaging with visitors to ensure a world-class experience.Provide visitors with accurate information about the collection, estate, Ford family, and various events, programs, and tours.Provide explanation, interpretation, and ensure visitors adhere to Ford House guidelines and policies.Provide accurate information about the collection, estate, events, exhibitions, Ford family, historic buildings, gardens, public programs, and tours.Operate point-of-sale system, process financial transactions, balance cash drawers, and prepare deposits.Accurately perform opening and closing procedures for admission desk, gate entry, grounds, historic buildings, reception, retail shop, and shuttles.Actively promote, sell, and renew Ford House memberships.Adhere to loss prevention standards, inventory control methods, and PCI compliance procedures.Provide operational support during events, programs, and tours for a positive experience for visitors.Assist visitors with checking bags, coats, and umbrellas.Provide visitors with strollers and wheelchairs as needed.Assist Visitor Experience management and security in the safety and well-being of guests in the event of an emergency.Participate in regular training and workshops about accessibility, conversational strategies, customer service, evacuations, diversity, exhibition content, first aid, retail products, and visitor engagement.Maintain confidentiality of museum information.Other duties as assigned.Skills & Requirements Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays.Schedule expectations:Expected work week is 20-28 hours.Ability to use event scheduling, point-of-sale, and ticketing software.Shopify, Salesforce, and Veevart experience helpful.Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations accurately.Ability to use internet and Microsoft Office functions.Ability to assist visitors with strollers and wheelchairs.Key Characteristics/Traits Positive and outgoing personality.Responsible, reliable, and able to use sound judgment.The flexibility and sensitivity to work with diverse personalities and situations.Friendly, courteous, empathetic, and engaging presence with all visitors and staff, including those of all abilities, age, backgrounds, and ethnicities.Qualifications/Education High school diploma or equivalent.College courses in art history, education, museum studies, and U.S.history are preferred.Minimum of one year experience in one or more of the following areas:hospitality, retail, or visitor/guest services.Other Job Requirements Successful completion of background check.Physically able to sit for long periods of time, stand in the galleries as needed, able to use a computer, able to bend and/or stoop, climb, and lift up to 25 lbs.to perform tasks that may be required in the course of museum operation.Must be able to work up to 28 hours per week.Ford House is committed to a policy of Equal Employment Opportunity and will not discriminate against an applicant on the basis of age, sex, sexual orientation, race, color, creed, religion, ethnicity, national origin, alienage or citizenship, disability, marital status, veteran or military status, genetic information, or any other legally recognized protected basis under federal, state, or local laws, regulations or ordinances.Applicants with disabilities may be entitled to reasonable accommodation under the terms of the Americans with Disabilities Act and/or certain state or local laws.Job Type:Part-time Pay:$16.00 per hour Benefits:Employee discount Flexible schedule Retirement plan Work Location:In person.
