Job Description: Volunteer Executive Assistant Organization: Black Mental Health Matters Inc. Position Title Volunteer Executive Assistant (Remote) Organization Overview Black Mental Health Matters Inc. is a mission-driven organization dedicated to promoting awareness, healing, education, advocacy, and meaningful conversations around Black mental wellness through media, community engagement, and strategic initiatives. We are seeking a highly organized, dependable, and proactive Volunteer Executive Assistant to support executive leadership and help strengthen the organization’s growth and impact. Position Summary The Volunteer Executive Assistant will provide administrative and strategic support to the Executive Director / CEO,President and leadership team. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, professional, mission-driven, and interested in nonprofit leadership, operations, and social impact. This is an excellent opportunity to gain executive-level experience while contributing to an important cause. Key Responsibilities Executive Support Manage calendars, scheduling, and appointments Coordinate meetings, calls, and follow-ups Draft emails, letters, and professional correspondence Prepare agendas, notes, and meeting summaries Assist with executive priorities and special projects Administrative Support Maintain organized files, records, and documents Track deadlines, tasks, and action items Assist with volunteer coordination and communications Support grant applications and fundraising administration Help manage databases and contact lists Operations & Communications Serve as liaison with partners, volunteers, and guests Support planning for BMHM Show and events Assist with outreach to sponsors, speakers, and collaborators Ensure timely communication and professionalism Strategic Support Research opportunities, grants, and partnerships Help improve internal systems and workflows Provide ideas to enhance growth and efficiency Preferred Qualifications Strong organizational and time management skills Excellent written and verbal communication Professional demeanor and discretion Detail-oriented and dependable Proficient in Google Workspace or Microsoft Office Comfortable using Zoom, email, spreadsheets, and online tools Ability to work independently and meet deadlines Passion for mental health advocacy and community impact Preferred Backgrounds Administrative support Executive assistant experience Nonprofit operations Communications Project coordination Social impact work Time Commitment Flexible remote role Approx. 5–10 hours per week (can grow based on availability) Benefits of Volunteering Executive-level leadership experience Resume-building opportunity Meaningful social impact work Networking opportunities Letter of recommendation based on performance Opportunity to grow into paid leadership roles as organization expands Ideal Candidate Someone who is proactive, loyal to mission, solution-oriented, and excited to help build a growing organization making real impact.
