Job Area Sales, Business Development & Marketing Group, Sales, Business Development & Marketing Group > Business Development General Summary Qualcomm is accelerating the digital transformation of factories, logistics, energy, robotics, and edge‑driven industrial systems. The Vice President of Industrial Automation will lead strategy, product innovation, and commercial execution across Qualcomm’s Industrial & Embedded portfolio. This executive will shape the roadmap for advanced edge computing and bring AI to the OT, intelligent connectivity and cameras, robotics platforms, and industrial IoT processor solutions, driving adoption across global industrial sectors. The VP will unify hardware, software, cloud, AI, and ecosystem partnerships to deliver scalable industrial automation blueprints built on Qualcomm’s leadership in low‑power computing, connectivity, and on‑device intelligence. This leader will partner with BU GMs & Product Segment leads, R&D, Product, Engineering, Sales, and ecosystem partners to create an Industrial Automation Vertical Specific Blueprint to drive growth, accelerate industrial innovation, and strengthen Qualcomm’s market position. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership for Qualcomm’s Industrial & Embedded Portfolio Define and lead the multi‑year industrial automation strategy spanning edge AI compute and cameras, connectivity, robotics, automation controllers, embedded compute, and industrial software stacks. Shape Qualcomm’s point of view in Industry 4.0, software‑defined factories, and intelligent edge architectures. Translate long‑term industry trends into Qualcomm’s product, platform, and ecosystem direction. Product & Platform Leadership Own portfolio strategy and investment planning across Qualcomm’s industrial compute, sensing, AI, and connectivity products. Lead development and incubation of industrial software and services (e.g., orchestration, digital twins, device management, cloud integration). Drive alignment across chipsets, reference designs, SDKs, development platforms, and cloud/edge integrations to deliver unified solutions for industrial OEMs. Business Growth & Commercial Execution Build and execute go‑to‑market strategy for Industrial & Embedded verticals including manufacturing, robotics, energy, transportation, and smart infrastructure. Define and optimize commercial models, pricing/packaging, and partner enablement to scale revenue and expand market share. Work with global Sales and BD teams to accelerate design‑wins and deepen engagement with top industrial customers. Technology & Engineering Leadership Partner with engineering leaders to guide product roadmaps for compute, connectivity, AI acceleration, software frameworks, and platform security. Ensure Qualcomm solutions meet industrial‑grade reliability, safety, regulatory, and lifecycle requirements. Foster innovation in edge AI, deterministic networking, autonomous robotics, and next‑generation industrial automation technologies. Ecosystem & Partner Strategy Develop and expand strategic partnerships with industrial automation leaders, cloud providers, ISVs, system integrators, and robotics ecosystem players. Influence partner roadmaps to align with Qualcomm technologies and drive co‑innovated industrial solutions. Represent Qualcomm in key industry forums, standards bodies, and executive‑level customer engagements. M&A, Integration, and Cross‑Company Transformation Identify strategic M&A targets that strengthen Qualcomm’s industrial and edge portfolio. Lead cross-functional integration across product, engineering, sales, operations, and cloud teams. Guide organizational transformation toward software‑defined, services‑enabled industrial offerings. Leadership & Organizational Development Lead global teams across product management, engineering, operations, GTM, and new product incubation. Drive clarity and execution in complex matrix environments, balancing innovation with operational excellence. Promote a culture of agility, multidisciplinary collaboration, and high‑performance delivery. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics or Mathematics, or a related technical field of study 15+ years of leadership experience in industrial automation, industrial IoT, robotics, embedded systems, cloud/SaaS, or related advanced technology domains. Deep knowledge of industrial architectures (IPC/PLC/SCADA, fieldbuses/Ethernet TSN, safety/security).
