Job Summary The Warehouse Associate I is responsible for the physical movement of freight in a container freight station, including unloading and loading commodities that transit the warehouse, and completion of associated documentation. This position also performs a variety of warehousing duties which require storage responsibilities and an understanding of the company's maintenance and safety plan. Primary Objectives Efficient, accurate movement of freight as required using appropriate equipment and safety practices. Accurate, timely completion of required documentation relating to inbound and outbound freight. Active support of safety, work environment and security policies and best practices. Duties and Responsibilities Operate electric or propane powered forklift trucks with rated lifting capacity of less than 5,000 lbs. to heights typically not exceeding 180 inches or 15 feet. Operate the lifting and tilting controls and steer the vehicle into position to load, move, transport and stack goods and materials in crates, boxes, pallets, skids about such locations as warehouse dock, ocean containers, vans, flatbed trucks, flat racks, etc. Receive and verify freight against receiving documentation, note discrepancies and damage, and report findings. Load and unload containers using strip sheets and load sheets; may unload ARC vessels into warehouse, and re-cube export shipments. May operate yard hustler for relocation of rail and ocean containers. Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area of warehouse. Comply with safety and security regulations and policies including attendance at monthly safety meetings. Other warehouse duties as assigned. Education High school diploma or equivalent (HSED) required Licenses and Certifications Forklift certification required Valid state issued driver’s license and acceptable driving record preferred Work Experience 6+ months of previous related work experience preferred 6+ months of forklift driving experience preferred Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Self-directed with the ability to work within time and productivity guidelines with minimal supervision. Good verbal and written communication skills; able to listen to and follow verbal instructions and write legibly. Ability to read and properly complete freight-related documentation and instructions. Good organizational and multi-tasking skills.
