Job Description
Corrections Officer Salary: $6,064.00 - $7,739.00 Monthly Location: Olympia, WA Job Type: Full-Time Department: Sheriff Closing Date: Continuous Applicants must attach a copy of their current and valid corrections officer certification from a recognized and accredited Washington State academy to be considered for this employment opportunity. Typical work includes receiving, searching, booking, fingerprinting, and photographing incoming prisoners; issuing jail uniforms, recording and storing personal effects, and housing inmates by appropriate classification; maintaining jail security through observation of inmates, pat searches, strip searches, and cell searches; assuring that inmates have access to basic needs for hygiene and welfare; preparing and delivering prisoners to court, doctors' offices, hospitals, and other locations; logging court disposition of cases, writing reports, and maintaining files; screening and processing visitors, processing personal property brought to inmates and released; assigning and directing work of trustees, distributing meals to all inmates, assuring that all materials are removed from cells after meals; advising superior when medical attention appears necessary and maintaining physical safety of prisoners, administering prescribed medications; monitoring video and audio surveillance equipment and other job-related equipment; receiving incoming telephone calls to the department, relaying them as appropriate; attending training and shift meetings, applying job-related knowledge, skills, and abilities on duty; responding to and assisting with major or minor disturbances, medical crisis situations, escapes, fire, and other natural disasters; preparing reports, memos, log book entries, and unit rosters; performing related work as required.
