Job Description
OverviewJoin our dynamic team as a Utility Worker specializing in Water and Wastewater systems! In this vital role, you will support daily operations, maintenance, and monitoring of drinking and wastewater systems throughout the Roaring Fork Valley and beyond, including treatment facilities, distribution and collection infrastructure, and related appurtenances.This position assists the Operator in Responsible Charge (ORC) in maintaining safe, reliable, and compliant water and wastewater services while performing a wide range of hands-on operational and maintenance tasks.Duties Drinking Water System Support Assist with operation and maintenance of drinking water systems, including: Wells, pumps, pressure tanks, storage tanks, and booster stations Distribution system components such as valves, hydrants, and service lines Disinfection systems (chlorine, hypochlorite, or equivalent) Perform routine inspections of water system facilities and report abnormalities Assist with leak detection, line locating, and emergency repairs Perform meter installations, testing, reading, and replacements Collect drinking water samples as directed, including bacteriological and compliance samples Wastewater System Support Assist with operation and maintenance of wastewater systems, including:Lagoons, package plants, and lift stations Inlet works, pumps, blowers, and disinfection systems Perform visual inspections and routine operational checks Assist with lift station monitoring, pump cleaning, and alarm response Clean and maintain sewer mains using jetting and mechanical equipment Perform CCTV inspections and assist with condition assessments Locate and raise manholes to grade Support collection system tasks under ORC direction Experience Basic knowledge of water distribution and wastewater collection systems Ability to operate light and heavy equipment safely Understanding of safety practices (confined space, excavation safety, PPE use) Ability to read maps, locate utilities, and follow work orders Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong communication and customer service skills Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED Valid driver's license Physical Requirements Frequent lifting up to 75 lbs Walking, standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing Working in trenches, confined spaces, and uneven terrain Exposure to wastewater, chemicals, and outdoor environments Pay:$28.00 - $40.00 per hour Benefits:Paid time off Retirement plan Work Location:In person.
