HS diploma or equivalent.Valid driver's license with a clean record - no excessive tickets and/or loss of license in the past 5 years.Experience working with various types of equipment including pumps, generators, wrenches, shovels, drain spades, drills, backhoes, dump trucks, sewer jet machines, various hand and power tools, etc.Ability to apply basic accounting knowledge and principles, such as fractions, percentages, ratios, etc.Strong customer service skills with the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions using tact and diplomacy from city staff, general public, supervisors, vendors, co-workers, etc.Ability to be on-call for a 7-day period, including weekend rounds based on a 4-person rotating schedule.Must have the flexibility to respond to after-hour emergency callouts.Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.What does a water/wastewater operator do? Monitor meters and gauges, accurately reporting the findings.Collect and test water and sewage samples.Inspect, clean, maintain and repair various equipment, tans, filter beds, and other work areas.Hamilton's water treatment is a Class B surface water, and the wastewater consists of lagoons.Excellent opportunity to grow from a non-certified employee to a certified operator while gaining valuable skills and knowledge..
