Join us and help shape the future of aerospace and defense. What You Will Do: We have an exciting opportunity at our Engine Center in Bridgeport, WV for a Welder to join our team! In this role, you will support the overhaul and repair of gas turbine engine components by performing precision welding and metal fabrication operations on a variety of materials such as steel, aluminum, titanium, magnesium, etc. The ideal candidate brings strong technical welding expertise, a commitment to quality and safety, and the ability to work in a highly regulated aviation maintenance environment. This position will work on our 2nd shift, which is Monday-Thursday from 3:30pm-1:30am. Training may take place on another shift for up to 6 months before officially moving to 2nd shift. Pratt & Whitney in Bridgeport, WV is a FAA regulated facility and as such under the U.S. Departments of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This position is considered safety sensitive in accordance with FAA Guidelines. Candidate will be subject to drug and alcohol testing per FAA’s regulation 14 CFR part 120, as well as 49 CFR part 40. Key Responsibilities: Set up and operate gas and electric welding equipment to perform a variety of complex fusion and resistance welding, brazing and cutting operations on all types of overhaul and repair of gas turbine engines. Perform welding operations including machine setup and proper selections of materials and methods on various thicknesses and types of metals including stainless steel, aluminum, magnesium, titanium and mild steel using oxyacetylene and electric-arc methods and equipment including M.I.G., T.I.G. and spot-welding machines. Weld cracks, build up materials and replace details. Work from drawings, manuals, standard procedures, technical publications and verbal instructions. Perform various grinding, deburring and polishing operations prior to and following welding. Use a variety of jigs, fixtures, power tools, hand tools and measuring instruments. Perform welding operations on tooling, equipment and plant maintenance. Advise and assist others to overcome difficulties. Maintain up to date certification as required by the company. Program and operate Auto T.I.G. and ABAR furnace. Ensure workflows through work center in a timely manner. Qualifications You Must Have: High School Diploma or GED equivalent and a minimum of 1 year of professional welding experience (MIG, TIG, and/or Spot-Welding processes) Demonstrated welding Certifications or experience with Inconel, stainless steel, and aluminum Qualifications We Prefer: Additional certifications or experience with titanium and/or magnesium Experience operating vacuum furnace equipment Prior experience in aviation, aerospace, manufacturing, or industrial repair environments Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, repair manuals, and work instructions Please ensure the role type defined below is appropriate for your needs before applying to this role.
