So,... are you ready? JOB SUMMARY: The Wildlife Biologist I supports research, management, and outreach activities focused on salt marsh ecology, hydrology, and wildlife communities. Responsibilities include conducting field and laboratory data collection, performing data analysis, assisting with student and collaborative research projects, and contributing to reports, publications, and proposals. This position requires the ability to work independently in challenging field environments while supporting the mission of the Center and performing other duties as assigned. JOB DUTIES: 35% - Essential - Research and Data Collection: Conduct fieldwork and laboratory analyses related to salt marsh ecology, hydrology, and associated wildlife communities. Collect biological and environmental data across multiple taxa, including avifauna, invertebrates, herpetofauna, and vegetation. Manage and organize datasets, perform literature reviews, and contribute to scientific reports and publications. 25% - Essential - Project Management and Collaborations: Coordinate research activities across restoration and reference marsh sites to ensure timelines and deliverables are met. Collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and external partners to advance research and conservation objectives. Support proposal development, grant reporting, and integration of collaborative project components. 20% - Essential - Student Support: Assist undergraduate and graduate students with ongoing research projects related to wetland and wildlife ecology. Provide guidance in field techniques, data collection, and analysis, and support training and professional development opportunities. 10% - Essential - Outreach and Education: Contribute to outreach efforts that communicate research findings and promote wetland conservation. Support workshops, presentations, and engagement activities that expand the Center¿s reach and public interest in salt marsh ecosystems. 10% - Essential - Other Duties as Assigned: Maintain and operate vehicles, boats, field equipment, and research instruments. Ensure proper care, calibration, and safe use of equipment while working in challenging field conditions. Carry out additional tasks that support daily operations of the Center and project needs. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education - Bachelor's Degree - Biology, chemistry, wildlife management or related technical area. Work Experience - 1+ years experience conducting wildlife research, fieldwork, or conservation-related projects. Ability to collect biological and environmental data, perform data entry and basic analyses, assist with research projects, and work independently and collaboratively. PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: Education - Master's Degree - Wildlife ecology, biology, environmental science, or a related field. Licenses - Drivers License Class D normal < 26,000 Work Experience - 2+ years strong skills in wildlife and plant identification, particularly in southeastern U.S. ecosystems. Experience working in wetlands and/or salt marsh systems. Experience with one or more of the following: field survey techniques across Certifications & License - Certified Wildlife Biologist or Associate Wildlife Biologist (The Wildlife Society), or other relevant professional certifications. Valid driver's license (Class D or equivalent) and reliable transportation.
