Job Description
The X-Lab Software Engineer supports rapid prototyping, integration, and development of future missile defense capabilities. The X-Lab works on sensor/weapon integration, algorithms, user interfaces, and experimental technologies, making this role ideal for a hands-on developer who enjoys fast-paced, innovative work. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and integrate new software capabilities using Java and related technologies. Apply basic systems engineering concepts to drive software design decisions. Develop detailed and repeatable tests to validate new functionality. Work within Agile teams, collaborating with developers, engineers, SMEs, and system users. Support deployment, integration, and troubleshooting activities in lab environments. Required Skills Experience with Java and Spring framework. Experience working in Linux environments. Familiarity with software test and analysis tools. Understanding of Agile software development principles. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Preferred Skills Experience with: Eclipse, Maven, Git/GitLab Python Ansible Windows & Unix/Linux OS administration Experience in DoD or missile defense environments is a plus. Education Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years experience, or advanced degree with 3+ years, or equivalent. Certification Requirements DoD 8570 IAT Level II (Security+ or equivalent).
