In HEBER CITY Make a difference in an adolescent's life! At New Focus Academy, we assist students with a variety of cognitive, social, and emotional struggles affecting their ability to manage their interpersonal relationships and daily life, such as Autism Spectrum & Psychosis Spectrum.Our students are between the ages of 12 to 18 years old, are 'uniquely abled' with neurodiverse minds.Your heart and hands can change lives.As a Youth Mentor you will be trained in proper mentoring methods.You will be responsible for working with and supervising the milieu, but you will be officially mentoring up to four students - working daily to help them reach their therapeutic goals and gain greater awareness of their unique abilities to adapt and succeed as they strive for the greatest level of autonomy they can achieve.Our Youth Mentors will be with students and other team members in both on-campus and off-campus activities.These activities may include:Skiing Mountain biking Hiking Class-time teacher support Swimming Paddle-boarding Indoor and outdoor games and physical activities Cleaning and other chores Rock polishing/lapidary Gardening Cooking And many more Improve your resume and prepare for college and direction.Some of our mentors go on to become Speech & Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Mental Health Therapists.Qualifications and Skills Certifications:Valid driver's license and safe driving record Able to pass background check Additionally Trained to be First Aid and CPR certificated (If you already have it great!!!) Trained to have a Food Handlers permit (If you already have it great!!!) Potential for Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) working under a BCBA therapist (This will include a raise and an opportunity to boost your resume).Qualifications:Applicants should be punctual, and reliable, with consistent and reliable transportation Past experience working with students in a residential treatment center setting is preferred, but not required (Heart for helping people is number 1!) Able to stay centered while dealing with stressful situations Patience in understanding people with different minds Able to rely on and provide immediate support to members of your team Able to set and maintain appropriate boundaries Goal oriented BIG HEARTS!!!
